When I was starting out roughly 40 years ago, throwing production work over the summers really helped me improve my skills at the wheel. I also found it extremely helpful to sit and watch other potters, more skilled than I, do their thing. This video is not a step by step instructional throwing lesson, but more an opportunity to sit in while I do my thing. Every time that I watch another potter on the wheel, I pick up something new, or at least different than how I do things. Some of these moves or techniques may eventually make their way into my own work, others may not… but it’s always exciting to be exposed to new possibilities. I intentionally left this wheel sesh a bit long since you have the controls (seen centering once, why see it again!) feel free to fast forward through segments, I won’t be offended.
