Most of you who follow me have said these words at some point over the past 10 years. His name is redacted from view until the temperature hits 90 + (coffee and tea) and the redaction disappears in seconds revealing the “protected” person’s name. See my Instagram post to see it in action.
***Food safe, but I recommend hand wash only to protect the redaction… It is a specialty ink applied post firing, with a clear sealant over top. It is fairly durable for general use, but can be removed with a sharp razor blade. Unsure how it might hold up being put through the dishwasher over time.
These crackle pieces have several extra steps, and a third firing involved in the making process compared with my other work, and this model features a special disappearing ink with a clear coat, which boils down to more $$ to cover the additional time / expense.
Red stoneware dipped in white crackle slip, then bisque fired a second time. Clear glaze with black interior and foot ring. 3.75 in. tall, it holds 13 ounces.
